By Gottfried Roller, Manfred Wildner

The best possible preparation for today and future challenges in the public health service

The professional background of public health is multidisciplinary, different professions are involved in practical implementation. In addition, the complementary and cooperative networking with the newly established area of public health in the German-speaking countries must be ensured and actively shaped. This places complex requirements on the ÖGD and the scientific partners.

For the first time in the German-speaking world, this work now strikes a bridge between theory and practice in the field of public health service. In addition to the basic principles, orientation knowledge and cross-sectional action knowledge, specific knowledge and skills are conveyed using case examples and concrete solutions that are essential for responsible and quality-oriented work in the public health service. Through consistently structured chapters and networked references between the chapters, a deeper understanding is promoted. Evidence and value-based as well as quality-oriented, this comprehensive textbook offers the best possible preparation for future challenges. This book can be used both chapter-wise for targeted learning and as a whole for a comprehensive overview.

The consideration of the federal structure in Germany and the nationwide valid mission statement for the public health service allows a cross-country perspective, which is also extended to Austria and Switzerland. This textbook not only appeals to doctors and other professionals in the public health service, but also medical students, health scientists, social scientists and social scientists as well as anyone interested in the tasks of the ÖGD.
