Partners in Play: An Adlerian Approach to Play Therapy, 3rd Edition (EPUB)

By Terry Kottman, Kristin Meany-walen
Kottman, who provides play therapy training and supervision, life coaching, counseling, and “playshops” for women, and Meany-Walen, a professor of counseling, provide counselors with a guide to Adlerian play therapy. They explain the elements of play therapy, including the rationale, toy selection, the arrangement of the playroom, and types of clients. They cover concepts related to Individual Psychology and the four stages of Adlerian therapy, and how to use Adlerian concepts to understand children, consult with parents and teachers, build an egalitarian relationship with the child, use encouragement and set limits, explore the child’s lifestyle, integrate the data into a formal conceptualization of the child, and help the child gain insight and learn new ways of viewing self, the world, and others, as well as new ways of behaving, and new ways of interacting with others. This edition incorporates updates on trends in play therapy, evidence-based treatment, and a new chapter on conducting research. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
